Biobank Interview with Kris Dierickx Episode four Part 1

In May the GLEUBE project attended a workshop organised by the Tiss.EU project centered around biobanks. Whilst there we interviewed Kris Dierickx.

Kris Dierickx (°1964) started his academic career in 1992 at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Law, Faculty of Medicine, K.U.Leuven. He has a Doctoral Degree in Theology, K.U.Leuven (1998). His doctoral dissertation is a philosophical, historical and moral theological investigation of the presuppositions and conditions of a genetic screening. He received the position of Professor of Medical Ethics in the Faculty of Medicine, K.U.Leuven.

He serves as an ethicist in several ethics committees. His most recent book is "New pathways for European Bioethics" (Intersentia, 2007). He published articles in international journals and books on ethics in genetics, research ethics, regenerative medicine, empirical ethics, biobanks and reproductive medicine.  He is partner in several national and international research consortia. Kris Dierickx is the coordinator of ‘GeneBanC’ (www.genebanc.eu), an international research project (STREP) that is funded by the European Commission.  He acts as a reviewer in the PF7 program of the EC.
